As the ramifications of COVID 19 continue to be felt the world over. Rolf Heemskerk confirmed that an additional USD25,000 would be added to the Viewpoint Relief Fund created in 2020. The fund which is designed to help anyone significantly impacted by the effects of COVID, has now reached a combined total of approximately USD75,000.
To date the previous beneficiaries of the fund, include:
50 Residents in Elderly Care Centre x 2 Donations
20+ Families at an Education and Support Centre
50+ Families at a Voluntary Refugee Care Centre
150 + Low / No Income Families
30+ Low / No Income Over 65’s
The latest bursary from the fund was to provide more than 250 families – about 50 adults and 600 children, with a care pack. All of these families were either low- or no-income families that have been drastically impacted by the movement control ‘lockdown’ precautionary measures, that were necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Typically normally employed in the construction, restaurant, or hotel industries, many have been without a regular, or any income, for long periods since early 2020.
We have to say a massive thank you to a local chapter of the Lion’s Club, that coordinated the grant by organising the purchase and assembly of the care packages and the safe and fair distribution to the families in need.
