Personal Biography
Michael W. Branco, a born Bermudian, has been in the IT industry for 15+ years with expertise in software development, server virtualization, IT security and disaster recovery planning. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the University of Western Ontario, pursued graduate studies in Computer Science at Stanford University and earned his MBA from Richard Ivey Business School.
After university, Michael returned to Bermuda where he initially worked for Butterfield Bank in Electronic Security before moving to Ernst & Young as a software developer. He then embarked on a path into technology start-up companies including payment processing company Promisant and IT security company QuoVadis. He most notably founded Fireminds Ltd and is currently the Senior Vice President of Ignition, a global technology solutions company.
Michael has deep technology skills married with strong business and entrepreneurial abilities.
Michael has lived in Bermuda, Bulgaria and Canada over the past 15 years and is well travelled. He is a founding member of the Bermuda Democratic Alliance and currently serves on the National Executive Committee as an approved Parliamentary candidate and spokesperson for Energy, Telecom and Health. Michael also volunteers with the Ross Blackie Talbot Charity and the Ewan Sampson Scholarship Trust. He previously served as Vice Chairman for the Business Technology Division of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce.
